The Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country. The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others. The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.

Your challenge!

Reporting to Cascades Containerboard Packaging (CCP)’s Vice-President, Containerboard Business Unit and working closely with the management teams of your units, you will play a key role in developing and implementing the operational strategy supporting CCP’s business objectives. You will be given the accountability of health and safety, the engagement of your teams and the financial objectives of your business units.

Job Responsibilities
  • Take part in the development, realization and execution of the operational strategy for your units aligned with CCP’s business plan and world-class practices;
  • Manage, coach and mobilize your human resources according to Cascades’ values in order to have competent and engaged employees;
  • Design and implement the talent and succession development strategy in your units, in collaboration with Human Resources partners;
  • Work closely with CCP Management team and Cascades’ services and centres of expertise in order to promote a continuous improvement culture regarding health and safety, quality management, and customer-centricity approach;
  • Ensure the success of operational efficiency for your business units by reaching established targets for:
    • Occupational health and safety;
    • Production capacity;
    • Standard operating costs;
    • Quality.
  • Manage annual capital expenditure (CAPEX) deployment by ensuring project realization, governance, and benefits monitoring;
Additional responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the sales and operations planning department, ensure the optimization of the assignment of orders to align demand and capacity;
  • In collaboration with Sales, define the solutions/strategies to be put in place to meet customers’ needs;
  • Support Plant Managers in the realization of their action plans in order to help them reach their business goals;
  • Significantly contribute to the successful implementation of processes and management tools, and collaborate to their optimization;
  • Facilitate sharing of best practices and knowledge among your local management teams;
  • Define performance standards for the budget process (availability, efficiency, quality, OEE), in collaboration with CCP Management team and your plant managers;
  • Support the development of your units by appointing appropriate resources in order to have an adequate organizational structure;
  • Closely monitor the best operational practices and share them within the organization.
