Logistics Supervisor

Your challenge!

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, you will have the following main functions:

  • Work jointly with Production Supervisors managing Outbound workforce at both Greenpac and Cascades Containerboard Packaging – Niagara Falls while in alignment with the organization’s business strategy;
  • Support the units’ operational strategy for logistics/transportation including:
    • Manage the outbound logistics operations of two paper mills that share a site and assets with a combined output of 100+ truckloads and 5+ railcars a day. Also supervise outbound shipping for 7+ external storage locations.
    • Manage the relationship between production, order entry, transportation, and inventory management to ensure OTD.
    • Work closely with Cascades Sales & Operation Planning (S&OP) to determine best allocation of resources.
    • Regularly institute new processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the department. 
    • Organize inventory within SAP and perform regular audits to ensure accuracy.
    • Work closely with a transportation management team with an onsite 3PL group to manage carrier relationships and KPI’s.
    • Facilitate rail operations while working with CSX to establish rates, determine new routes schedule rail pickups and route railcar transportation.
  • Be a leader in promoting an interdependent safety work culture and assist at implementing safety policies & procedures;
  • Manage and engage staff based on Cascades’ values and business strategy including encouraging their team to suggest ideas for improvement;
  • Help employees reporting to them to develop their skills and make sure they receive the necessary training to carry out their responsibilities;
  • Help maintain a positive work environment by being present and fostering two-way communication;
  • Ensure compliance with logistics/transportation laws and standards in effect;
  • Foster business relationships between clients and business partners;
  • Any other duties assigned by the Logistics Manager.

Desired experience

  • 5+ years management experience in logistics & transportation;
  • Strong leadership is a must;
  • College degree in a related field;
  • Computer literate (Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP Module ECP required);
  • Must be available to be on-call;
  • Travel to Canada for training may be required.
  • Competent in perseverance, rigour, flexibility and ability to adapt, partnership, decision-making, planning and organizing, managerial courage, and team leadership.
