Your challenge!

As a Process Engineer for the Eau Claire, WI mill you will have a diverse work load in support of the manufacturing needs of the Converting department.  The successful candidate will partner with the Production Supervisors in converting to determine the best methods to do what we do best, communicate with our production population on challenges they may have regarding their daily tasks and collaborating with the Process Engineer in Paper Making and the Reliability Engineer to ensure synergy across the mill.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Converting Production Manager, you will have the following main functions:

  • Supporting the production areas to ensure achievment of the goals (safety, quality, productivity)
  • Evaluate and make recommendations to improve efficiency
  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with both the Production and Maintenance Managers as well as production employees
  • Make recommendations and assist with the implementation of standardized production practices
  • Promote processes and tools for continuous improvement
  • Assist with start-up of new equipment and investment projects

Help roll out an operational strategy in line with his unit’s business strategy

Assist with commissioning new equipment

Assist with tests carried out by the unit and support investment projects

Ensure technical support and develop relationships with business partners

Maximize synergy and foster collaboration among Cascades’ groups, units and business units

Help implement standardized manufacturing practices (One Certification) and implement equipment management best practices

Help the unit achieve its operational objectives (e.g., quality, OSH, productivity, profitability, maintenance)

Recommend and/or implement solutions to improve his unit’s manufacturing efficiency

Share best practices

Support and promote processes and tools that drive a continuous improvement culture in his unit

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Other relevant fields

Desired experience

  • Mechanical Engineers preferred but other relevant competencies will be considered
  • Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience, preferrably in the pulp and paper industry. A combination of training and equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification a plus
