The Tissue Group, a division of Cascades, is the second-largest tissue producer in Canada and the fifth-largest in North America. The Division manufactures, converts and markets a huge selection of paper products, such as hand towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, wipers and dispensers for the North American away-from-home and consumer products markets. The Group has more than 2,200 employees and operates seven manufacturing plants, nine conversion plants and four plants with both manufacturing and conversion facilities.

Your challenge!

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will have the following main functions:

  • Contribute fully in efforts to correct at risk conditions and behaviors, and improve the safety culture of the plant
  • Lead, coach, and manage the members of the Maintenance and Production department teams
  • Manage and improve the equipment maintenance and production processes in the plant
  • Plan and oversee capital improvement projects as well as other improvement projects
  • Coordinate with contracted suppliers to ensure that the building and grounds are well maintained
  • Lead the risk management efforts of the plant in conjunction with corporate and insurance partners
  • Lead intervention efforts when intractable equipment issues arise
  • Develop an action plan to maximize standardized manufacturing efficiency in his/her sector and optimize resources

Desired experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience;
  • Paper Converting Manufacturing Experience Strongly Desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Displays rigor and perseverance
  • Team leader who fosters teamwork, and has ability to coach
  • Good decision maker with skills in planning and organization as well as continuous improvement;
  • Familiarity or experience with TPM, 5S, SMED, and predictive activities like vibration analysis.
