Chief Operating Engineer

Job Responsibilities
  • Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Chief Operating Engineer will oversee and ensure the safe and efficient operation of the steam plant and other related power plant services equipment in compliance with internal procedures and all applicable legislation, regulations, codes and standards.
  • This role is responsible for managing the corporate risk management program at the plant level. 
  • Oversee operations team - TSSA requirements, monitoring systems and ensure operating engineers are following guidelines
Desired experience
  • Grade 12 diploma with post-secondary education preferred
  • 1st Class Operating Engineer Certification
  • 3-5 years of related work experience, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment
Technical competencies
  • Effective leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making skills
  • Thorough knowledge of the Technical Standards and Safety Act, Operating Engineers Regulation and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, CMMS and SAP
  • Experience with DCS preferred
  • Ability to work overtime and be on-call as necessary
  • Must have or establish residence within 30 minutes of our mill
