The Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country. The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others. The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.

Your challenge!

Reporting to the Vice-President, Human Resources and working closely with the General Managers, operations and General Managers, Sales of the Sheet Plants and Corrugated Business Units in Ontario, you will play a key role in the implementation of the human resources plan supporting Cascades Containerboard Packaging’s strategic plan, and in advising the management teams of your Business Units as a Human Resources and Management Specialist.  We are looking for a person who will emphasize the engagement of our employees, in order to help the organization work towards a people-centric culture. The detailed responsibilities of the position are listed below.

Job Responsibilities

  • To work with the Business Units Leaders to create alignment with Cascades core value of having a People and a Customer Centric Culture;
  • To work with the Business Units Leaders to create a healthy and safe working environment based on behavioural awareness, personal accountability and teamwork;
  • Contribute to the implementation of Human Resources operational strategies;
  • Support organizational transformation and change management by working jointly with the unit’s management teams;
  • Participate in identifying the Human Resources needs in the Business Units and propose and implement priorities for action;
  • Support the talent development and succession strategy;
  • Foster and promote ethical conduct and uphold Cascades’ values and corporate culture;
  • Draw inspiration from Human Resources management best practices to innovate;
  • Implement Human Resources management processes and support managers;
  • Ability to accompany, guide and supervise employees or colleagues in their development to help them to fully assume their responsibilities;
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize activities in order to meet organizational objectives while making sure resources are used optimally;
  • Ability to collaborate with others and to be a member of a team, while being respectful of other team members in order to achieve the organization's objectives.

Desired Eductation / Experience / Skills

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations or Human Resources or equivalent;
  • You have strong experience of at least 10 years in human resources management;
  • You are autonomous, interested by the organization business objectives and you can exercise a consulting role with your business partners;
  • You demonstrate coaching skills, inspiring leadership and influence;
  • Your leadership encourages employees’ participation;
  • You are computer literate;
  • You have multi-sites experience;
  • You are recognized to convey the values of the company and have at heart the well-being and the success of the employees;
  • You will be required to travel often in carrying out your duties, mainly in the GTA.
