The Tissue Group, a division of Cascades, is the second-largest tissue producer in Canada and the fifth-largest in North America. The Division manufactures, converts and markets a huge selection of paper products, such as hand towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, wipers and dispensers for the North American away-from-home and consumer products markets. The Group has more than 2,200 employees and operates seven manufacturing plants, nine conversion plants and four plants with both manufacturing and conversion facilities.

 

 

 

Your challenge!

 

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager for our Mill in St. Helens. This individual will maintain equipment to increase efficiency, collaborate with other team members to optimize maintenance work flow, be able to respond quickly to production issues, plan and manage ongoing projects, coach and develop the maintenance team, and become a leader and contributor to the safety and success of our plant.

 

The ideal candidate will offer a strong leadership approach, the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, provide innovative methods when overcoming challenges, and have solid decision-making skills.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Reporting to the Mill Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for safe execution of the following functions:

 

  • Maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment to maximize reliability, availability, and continued operation.
  • Plan and coordinate with maintenance and production supervisors on working plans including shut downs, daily work, preventive and predictive maintenance, within budget.
  • Coordinate sub-contracting within the plant and follow up on work performed to ensure safety, equipment availability and efficiency.
  • Communicate and work with purchasing to identify short term and long term needs related to spare parts.
  • Direct involvement in creating/executing capital expenditures related to departmental budget and mill goals.
  • Establish and maintain a healthy working relationship and strong safety culture with department employees. 

 

 

Desired Education and Experience

 

  • Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering  with 6-8 years of experience in a maintenance leadership role is desired 
  • Expierence With Tissue Machines preferred.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices (lockout, PPE, confined space, etc.)
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning and preventive maintenance
  • Knowledge of equipment, product and new technologies.
  • Strong Leadership and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient Office software and systems desired (i.e. MS Office, SAP, etc.)

Work with Production to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities
