Your challenge!

Reporting to the HR Vice-President, the Sector HR Manager mission is to deploy the HR strategic plan by coaching his or her business unit’s HR directors in the achievement of business objectives and the application of operational skills. You act as a human resources and management expert and collaborate with centers of expertise and shared human resources services to target your sector’s needs and implement innovative operational changes to improve existing HR processes. You thus implement best practices in talent management, succession management and occupational health and safety, and mobilize your team to promote them within your plants. As a result, you contribute to the creation of a committed, high-performance workforce that is aligned with Cascades' business strategy, values and culture.

Individual responsibilities

The Sector HR Manager's main responsibilities will be


  • Apply company policies and business processes.
  • Coach and positively influence the management team members of your business sector.
  • Participate in the implementation of operational human resources strategies in the plants.
  • Support operational transformation and change management by working with plant management.
  • Participate in the definition of the human resources needs of your business unit, establish and propose priority actions and ensure their implementation.
  • Support the mobilization of your units' human resources in accordance with Cascades' values and business strategy.
  • Support the talent and succession development strategy.
  • Promote the maintenance of a healthy and safe work environment for all mill employees.
  • Promote sound health management.
  • Encourage and promote ethical behavior, culture and values of Cascades.
  • To innovate by drawing inspiration from the best practices in human resources management.


Experiences and strengths

The Sector HR Manager must have the following qualifications


  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Industrial Relations.
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in a management position.
  • Possess extensive skills and knowledge in compensation and benefits management, health management, talent management, etc.
  • Strong ability to manage large-scale change and its impact on all levels of the organization and all stakeholders.
  • Ability to coach and mentor business partners in analyzing their needs and finding solutions.
  • Demonstrate leadership and the know-how to generate support for the proposed solutions.
  • Have a great ability to listen in order to quickly understand the needs and issues.
  • Good analytical skills to guide the choice of strategies and establish priority actions in human resources.
  • Excellent ability to build and sustain a customer-focused culture based on a human approach.
  • Be a good communicator and prioritize teamwork.
  • Have the agility to work with different technological tools.
  • Fluency in French and English, knowledge of Spanish (an asset).
  • Be available to travel approximately 40% of the time across Canada and the United States.
