The Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country. The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others. The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.

Your challenge!

Reporting to the Administration Director for the containerboard business unit, the Sales Controller will be responsible for the financial aspects of sales and distribution for this business unit. Moreover, as an expert in financial analysis, the Sales Controller will have to support his/her manager and business partners in the profitability analysis to support decision-making.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Sales team and the management for requests related to customers’ sales and profitability, including follow-up on sales price, discounts and freight costs;
  • Perform monthly and occasional analysis to explain results and variances, and suggest new analysis when required;
  • Establish and interpret the relation between financial results and operational performance in order to find improvement opportunities;
  • Contribute actively to budget process, including forecasts, of his/her business unit;
  • Influence, inspire, direct and ensure the development of his/her team, and ensure communication with the S&OP team;
  • Participate to technological improvement and business process reengineering;
  • Maintain an efficient governance structure in order to minimize inherent business risk related to operations and fraud;
  • Ensure reliability and completeness of financial information that is generated;
  • Monitor best practices in his/her field of expertise and share them through the organization.

Desired profile

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, with a specialization in accounting or finance;
  • Hold a CPA accounting title, an asset;
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position;
  • Have an analytical mind, be rigorous and organized;
  • Be a team player;
  • Have experience in staff management and be an engaging and inspiring coach;
  • Have an excellent knowledge of Excel;
  • Have relevant experience with an ERP system, ideally SAP;
  • Have a knowledge of BPC and IBP, an asset;
  • Be fully bilingual (French and English).
