Your challenge!

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Unit Controller is tasked with contributing to their unit’s business development and ensuring coordination in accordance with the strategic plan. You use your financial expertise to support your unit's management in applying business processes and best system utilization. As a unit controller you ensure that you implement and support best financial and management practices including internal control. You analyze operational cost performance indicators to support production optimization and contribute to your plant's decision-making process.


In Cascades, the unit controller is an important member of the local management team. As manager, your leadership skill will be important to support changes and promote new initiatives and best practices.


This position is based in Schenectady, NY and supports the Newtown, CT facility. There will be required travel to Newtown every month.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for financial planning, analysis and control including leadership of annual budget process, forecasting activity and monthly reporting of actual results, ensuring the timeliness and integrity of financial data.
  • Track the operational and financial performance of the site to identify improvement opportunities and develop required action plan
  • Support the management team in the implementation and monitoring of strong business processes
  • Share and implement best practices in financial, administrative, and accounting
  • Foster and promote Cascades' ethical behaviors, culture, and values

Desired experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, required
  • Hold an accounting designation (CPA), preferred
  • Have 5-10 years of experience in management accounting, combined with considerable experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience supervising employees
  • Knowledge of the SAP system (preferred), or experience implementing ERP systems
  • Advanced understanding of Excel
  • Ability to travel to Newtown, CT at month-end and other times of the month, as needed
