The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.

Job Description

Reporting to the 3rd shift Production Supervisor, the Material Handler is responsible for the safe storage of raw materials, work in progress, finished goods, and the supply of such materials to the machine centers for use within the manufacturing process. This position is a full-time (40 hours per week) position on our third shift, regular hours of operation 11:00pm to 7:00am Monday to Friday. Must also be able to work mandatory overtime and weekends.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Operate electric powered forktruck while following all safety procedures;
  • Move corrugated sheets from Corrugator to different converting machines;
  • Move work-in-progress to different machine centers while insuring that machines do not run out of stock;
  • Remove finished product from take-off lines at machines;
  • Move raw materials into assembly areas and organizing stock in the warehouse as required;
  • Coordinate orders via detailed verbal and written communication with other plant employees, Supervisors and Managers;
  • Assist shipping and receiving as needed, particularly with the loading of trucks and the verification and final inspection of orders;
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner;
  • Other tasks and duties as specified by Management.

Minimum three years experience in manufacturing environment with preference given to Corrugated/Packaging industry experience;

  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety Rules and Regulations;
  • Ability to prioritize many tasks and execute results, which will promote customer satisfaction;
  • Ability to deal with conflict, stress and time constraints in an efficient, professional, courteous manner;
  • Must be able to work the 3rd shift schedule of 11:00pm to 7:00am including mandatory overtime of either 7:00pm to 7:00am or 11:00pm to 11:00am;
  • Must be able to work on Saturdays when needed.
