The Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country. The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others. The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.

Your challenge!

 

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Reliability Lead is responsible for all outcomes associated with the reliability and maintenance of the equipment in their area. The Reliability Lead works in conjunction with the maintenance department to ensure clear and effective communication between operations and maintenance, determine correct prioritization for equipment reliability activities and manages equipment defects/failures. 
The Reliability Lead provides support to the Asset Owner and Process Lead in improvement and sustainability of equipment reliability as well as Health and Safety activities.

Individual responsibilities

 

  • Define standard processes and tools to handle defects (DH) (example of what and ensures that processes are executed properly)
  • Follow-up with operators to ensure that any defects were addressed properly
  • Define / execute on standards for Breakdown Elimination (BDE) and presents breakdown status weekly at a Line Centric Team (LCT) meeting
  • Monitor repair paths
  • Support operators in identifying and solving problems that caused breakdowns
  • Determine planned maintenance needs and prioritize / schedule the process for conducting planned maintenance
  • Ensure constant communication with the maintenance department to establish area priorities
  • Continuously improve established maintenance processes including DH and BDE
  • Reduced negative impact of maintenance needs and machine reliability
  • Participate/Lead Root Cause Analysis related to equipment breakdowns and shutdown effectiveness

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor's/College Diploma in engineering or operations management or other relevant fields
  • 2-3 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge / expertise in maintenance processes
  • Ability to collaborate with others, listen and communicate effectively
  • Ability to plan and organize activities to meet organizational objectives
  • Ability to effectively lead and coach a team
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate ability to overcome ambiguous and complex situations
  • Strong organization, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing tools and equipment
  • Experience and understanding of Lean production System Principles is an asset
  • Mechanically Inclined
  • Strong Time Management and organizational skill.
  • Standard schedule is steady days but occasionally required to work flexible work schedule when required to meet project deadlines
