Financial Analyst

Your challenge!

Reporting to the Retail and Branded Packaging Business Unit Controller, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage best practices in the accounting and administration functions and participate in the development of financial systems;
  • Support the management of the unit in the application and monitoring of business processes including the budget process, analysis and publication of internal financial information;
  • Interpret the relationship between financial results and operational performance in order to identify cost reduction and improvement opportunities;
  • Ensure the analysis of key performance indicators in order to contribute to the decision-making of the unit;
  • Help develop and implement operational strategy to effectively optimize resources;
  • Maximize the use of the working captial of the unit and track inventories;
  • Maintain SOX compliance to minimize business risks and ensure that financial information is reliable and complete;
  • Effectively maintain and control costing, KPI's and forecasting;
  • Assist Plant Manager with the administration of the Plant;
  • Support employee development and foster collaboration with all departments and divisions;
  • Lead and engage employees based on Cascades' values and business strategy;
  • Develop and maintain a safe work environment and promote health and safety on a daily basis.

Serve as an expert in the field and assist the manager in making business decisions and developing business strategies

Prepare statutory reports required under the laws and regulations in force

Prepare the analyses and information required to produce the unit’s, Group’s or Cascades’ financial statements and management reports and make recommendations

Serve as an expert in the field for the organization

Develop and provide training

Take the initiative to develop his or her skills

Help create and maintain a healthy and safe work environment for all of his/hers service’s employees

Guarantee the financial information produced is reliable and complete

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Desired experience

  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience; preferably in a manufacturing environment;
  • Strong leadership and problem solving/analytical skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and very detail-oriented;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to take initiative, be proactive and propose solutions;
  • Ability to focus on the essentials and efficiently produce to meet or exceed the expected results

Technical competencies

  • Strong knowledge of SAP and related systems;
  • Strong computer skills in Excel;
  • CPA designation considered an asset.

Additional information

  • Must participate in required training and development;
  • May involve minimal business travel to Montreal
