Your challenge!
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Plant Buyer’s mission is to support the maintenance department through the ordering of parts for the machines on the production floor.
Individual responsibilities
Accountable
Purchase goods and services required for plant/maintenance operations.
Responsible
- Purchase maintenance parts and production supplies such as doctor blades, straps, die blankets
- Work with the Receiver and receive parts physically.
- Work with maintenance employees/maintenance planner to distribute parts to the kitting area or spare parts in the storage.
- Inform Maintenance supervisor, maintenance planner, and reliability leads that parts have arrived for specific work orders during the yellow filter and green filter meetings.
- Use the Hippo CMMS system to put notes on work orders such as part ETA or the part locations/kitting.
- Send machine parts out for refurbishment or rebuild/repair with the maintenance planner such as anilox rolls, rubber feed rolls, glue/metering rolls.
- Work with a maintenance planner to purchase/issue PO# for the parts repaired by the machine shop.
- Manage and organize the part storage by putting spare parts back to the bins when the parts are received.
- Work with a maintenance planner closely to establish the kitting parts for repetitive work orders such as replacing rubber feed rolls, anilox rolls, splicers overhaul.
- Record parts in the CMMS and transfer to the SAP system.
Experiences and strengths
2 to 5 years of experience in similar role in a manufacturing environment
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong planning, organization and inventory management skills.
Knowledge of industrial environments (an asset).
High level of autonomy.
Ability to act and react quickly while working on a number of files at the same time.
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize activities effectively.
Experience working with SAP. HIPPO/CMMS, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
