Multi-plant Health & Safety Coordinator

Your Challenge!

 

Support efforts to improve workplace health and safety, work with managers, supervisors, hourly employees and others to help meet identified objectives.   Work on assigned projects and activities to help improve health and safety to meet mill and corporate goals. This is an estimated 2-year mandate and will end once mandate is completed.

Serve as the primary contact and resource for directing activities to establish and maintain a safe and productive workplace.  Lead health and safety activities to help achieve identified action plan goals and performance indicators.  Help implement the action plan, evaluate data and implement measures and controls to achieve positive results.  Identify potential hazards, communicate results, lead investigations and implement proactive measures.   Work with management and hourly employees, safety committees and other teams collaboratively and effectively.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Support and assist with implementing health and safety action plan objectives.
  • Communicate to all employees, the importance of performing meaningful safety observations provide training where necessary).  Key is to have all employees actively participating in safety observations.
  • Compile and submit monthly safety statistics reports.
  • Develop or update safety programs, standards and procedures following OSHA, company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct site walk-through inspections and safety audits.
  • Perform safety interactions, evaluate and report trends and results.
  • Report or correct hazards and recommend measures to prevent accidents.
  • Coach employees, supervisors and managers on completing assigned tasks, such as risk assessments, safety interactions and accident reports.
  • Help implement other elements of the safety management system.
  • Organize or implement safety training, ensuring that awareness and authorized level training is provided to the appropriate personnel.  Ensure that practical training is performed.
