Job Description


Cascades is currently looking for a skilled and motivated Journeyman Mechanic to join the maintenance team based out of our Pryor, OK location.

Schedule: Days with rotating weekend coverage (Every 4-5 weeks)

6am-4pm - 4 days on and rotating weekend coverage on call every 4-5 weeks - additional pay for call in and standby – (4 hours of pay for standby and additional 4 if called in)


Job Responsibilities


Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the position will be will be responsible for;

• Install, examine, replace or repair machines in a timely manner and working in safe manner at all times
• Perform preventative maintenance to equipment as required, including minor electrical repairs and basic welding and fabrication skills. (Pumps, motors valves)
• Adhere to maintenance schedule/plan – make recommendations for optimizing schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals.
• Read and interpret drawings and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
• Basic electrical knowledge. Maintain, repair, test and install, hydraulics and pneumatics
• Use proper lockout/ tag out procedures when required, never allowing a machine to be operated without proper guarding or when the possibility of injury is evident
• Pre risk job assessments before any uncommon tasks

A demonstrated commitment to safety. Possess demonstrated interpersonal skills and understanding of basic rigging and hoisting principles.

Ability to run machinery such as lift trucks, man lifts and carry decks as well as demonstrate ability to critically think and perform root cause analysis.

Troubleshooting of failure modes of all types of rotating assemblies, i.e. pumps, motors, gearboxes, fans, conveyors, etc.
Understanding of and ability to perform many levels of repair, situation dependent, to maximize the process reliability of the mill.





Mechanical maintenance training and/or experience up to journeymanlevel mechanical maintenance. May also require some minor electrical maintenance skills/knowledge.


This position requires performing mechanical maintenance on the paper machine. Maintenance mechanics are required to repair and replace any parts on the paper machine and auxiliary equipment.  Jobs would include working with all types of tools, welding equipment, hoists, mechanical lifts and vehicles.  May also be required to perform the duties and tasks of a Paper Converting mechanical maintenance person from time to time.
