The Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country. The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others. The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.

 

Your challenge!

 

We are seeking a dynamic Production Planner to focus on short term scheduling for the plant.  Located at our new state of the art manufacturing plant in Piscataway, NJ, the production planner will be responsible for scheduling orders  in the most efficient routes based on machine capabilities to ensure that our customers needs are satisfied by meeting delivery dates.  The successful incumbent will work closely with members of the Operations and Sale Service teams.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develop a production schedule based on short term production forecast that optimizes production  efficiency and meets customer delivery requirements;
  • Work closely with customer service and operations to plan production schedule;
  • Monitor and report on inventory levels to ensure that inventory levels meet current and projected plans.
  • Work with the customer service department, production, shipping, receiving and maintenance employees to ensure that daily deliveries can be met.
  • Maintain positive internal working relationships with Sales, Production, Shipping and Suppliers

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • BS in material/supply chain management or similar field is preferred
  • 2 or more years of Material Planning experience is preferred
  • Corrugated Sheet Plant experience is a plus
  • Experience using production planning software desired (CTI/KIWI)
  • Working knowledge of operational procedures related to the movement of materials in manufacturing environment is preferred
  • SAP experience a plus

Make sure everything needed for production (raw materials, machine time, etc.) is available

Make sure production data (inventories, MRP, quantity produced, MOR, etc.) is complete and communicate disparities to the individuals concerned

Optimize the production sequences (short term) in order to deliver the production master plan

Ensure liaison between corporate planning, customer service and shipping in the event of differences with the production master plan

Take part in operational decisions (materials, staff turnover, etc.)
