The Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country. The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others. The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.

Your challenge!


With an initial investment of more than $80M, Cascades opened its new operations in Piscataway, New Jersey in May 2018.  After  a successful startup and ramp-up, we are seeking a Plant Manager be the next visionary leader of this state-of-the-art facility.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Plant Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the plant operations including production, quality, maintenance, continuous improvement.  The Plant Manager leads the operation synergistically with human resources, finance, sales, customer satisfaction, and product development.

Job Responsibilities


  • Lead the management team in the growth and development of the facility to ensure synergy across the operations
  • Optimization of plant activities to achieve corporate and plant objectives with focus on quality, profitability, efficiency, and health & safety.
  • Develop and inspire a collaborative and engaged team.
  • Travel expectancy up to 15%

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations Management or Pulp & Paper required; in lieu of degree may consider candidates with more than 10 years progressive experience within pulp & paper manufacturing industry
  • 10 or more years of progressive management/leadership experience that includes a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Packaging sector experience (preferably corrugated) strongly desired

  • Provide sound financial management and maximize the return on assets under responsibility

Human Resources

  • Design and implement a talent development and succession strategy for his unit, in cooperation with Human Resources

  • Ensure that the work flow and job structure are tailored to his unit’s needs
  • Manage and engage his staff based on Cascades’ values and business strategy


Health & Safety

  • Accept the full responsibility that comes with position in line with Cascades’ OHS requirements
  • Identify the unit’s OHS priorities in line with corporate objectives and follow up on them
  • Insist on and create a safe and healthy work environment for all unit staff
  • Promote sound occupational health and safety management
