Design Supervisor

Your Challenge:

Reporting to the General Sales Manager, the Design Supervisor’s mission is to support the sales growth strategy and ensure its implementation. You manage the employees of the Technical and Graphics Department while ensuring the quality of their work and its compliance with standards, regulations and procedures in effect as well as with customer needs. You help coordinate deadlines for all requests from the Sales team relating to the preparation of technical or graphic specifications. You are responsible for improving existing tools and processes and sparking your team’s creativity. Finally, you train staff on the proper use of equipment and support the Technical and Graphic Design team in order to maximize sales and customer satisfaction.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Make sure that graphics and technical projects are feasible with our equipment, completed on time, on budget and to the user/customer’s satisfaction​
  • The engagement and motivation of his/her team, the optimization of resources, and the participation of his/her team in strategic markets​
  • Support sales growth strategy and ensure its implementation​
  • Manage according to our customer satisfaction KPI and objectives​
  • Design packaging that meets customer needs while taking the manufacturing process into account​
  • Analyze and understand customer needs and propose innovative solutions that create added value for customers and Cascades​
  • Manage and document your activities and projects​
  • Facilitate exchanges between your department and the departments concerned​
  • Provide technical support and optimize designs​
  • Ensure your projects comply with current standards, regulations and procedures​
  • Manage and engage employees based on Cascades’ values and business strategy​
  • Elicit ideas for improvement and innovation within your team​
  • Make sure that the Design team keeps up with strategic markets, design trends and new technologies​
  • Identify high margin improvement potential for value tracker initiatives​
  • Create a collaborative context with other Design Supervisors, create synergies and help put in place common design process and tools ​
  • Support group synergy aligned with strategic markets

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Design, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design technology or a related field​
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar position​
  • Innovative mindset and high level of creativity​
  • Ability to carry out a number of projects simultaneously while respecting deadlines and priorities​
  • Leadership and a collaborative spirit that inspire and engage teams to achieve excellence​
  • Ability to quickly understand and meet customer needs​
  • Ability to support and advise business partners in analyzing their needs and finding solutions​
  • Ability to adapt quickly and a high level of agility in order to respond to the various stakeholders’ needs​
  • Insight to be able to choose the best solutions based on analysis, experience and judgment​
  • Ability to proactively address issues and problems by proposing solutions​
  • Exceptional rigour and attention to detail​
  • Proficiency in drawing software
