Reliability Engineer

Your challenge!

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Reliability Engineer’s mission is to participate in the realization of his or her unit's business strategy by analyzing equipment failures and proposing effective solutions to remedy them. You thus analyze the equipment interventions’ history and enrich the documentation to facilitate future interventions. You also develop training programs aimed at transferring knowledge of best practices in the field to your business partners. Finally, you keep abreast of new technologies in preventive and predictive maintenance (PPM) in order to continually improve equipment reliability and contribute to achieving your department and other business units’ operational efficiency objectives.

Individual responsibilities

• Analyzes maintenance data to create monthly statistics for unplanned break-ins and shut downs.
• Reviews lost production time, and what category or process section was responsible for each down. 
• Performs root cause analyses for unplanned downtime greater than 180 minutes, or downtime for malfunctions that have happened for the third time. 
  • Creates action plans for corrections.
  • Leads and trains others in different RCA practices
• Works with production on risk analysis from the most critical production functional locations to improve preventative maintenance.
• Updates PM plans according to feedback from maintenance technicians and area maintenance Team Leaders.
• Develops PM methods and controls that PM work orders are executed correct an in time. 

Experiences and strengths

To be successful in mill maintenance, the preferred candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a reliability role.
• Experience in a paper mill environment is strongly preferred. 
• Experience working with SAP strongly preferred.
