Production Supervisor

Your challenge!

Position overview: Overall responsibility and accountability for the 12-hour shift and the respective crew members.

Job Responsibilities

• Interfaces with mill leadership and Asset Owners for setting priorities
• Key partner in strong alliance with the Asset Owners on all three LCL teams.
• Interfaces with maintenance and operations on scheduling priority work on equipment
• Schedules and supervises crew members for all operational tasks on the run
• Ensure safety policies are communicated and well understood. Ensures all crew members adhere to these policies at all times
     o Provide coaching on any gaps in understanding
• Ensure quality specifications are communicated and well understood by all the crew members
• Responsible for any/all environmental issues as they arise on shift, and to contain and report in an appropriate and timely manner
• Responsible for preliminary reporting of all safety, equipment (6W-2H) and environmental incidents that occur on shift
   o Expected to submit the preliminary report of these incidents before the end of that shift
   o Initiate and distribute any 6W-2H forms by the end of the shift for any events greater than one hour
• Ensures that crew members are properly trained and certified on the tasks to which they are assigned
   o Manages all knowledge and skill gaps proactively to ensure continuous operation of the mill
• Support, coach and ensure T1 meetings are held at the beginning and end of all shifts for all three lines
   o Audit T1 meetings on a regular basis each shift cycle
• First point of contact for employee relations issues and resolutions
• Is a role model to team members
• Conduct safety talks across shift every day
• Ensure all CIL/DH (autonomous maintenance) and preventative maintenance tasks are carried out on shift as scheduled. Coordinates with Asset Owner to support line necessities
• Ensure work requests issued for any defects
• Ensure full shift report is filled and communicated at the conclusion of each shift

• Employee coaching and mentoring for production team members on shift
• Approves employee timesheets by Monday at 9 AM for prior week. Approves employees’ vacation and holidays
• Documents and measures each employee’s performance and performs annual reviews
• Identifies training gaps and works with correct trainers to reduce/eliminate gaps
• Manages employee incidents and ensures that protocol is followed in all cases
• Communicates clearly between other shift team leaders to ensure fair and equitable practices across all four crews
• Managing overtime assignments and time off for weekly schedule. Fills out schedule ready for distribution by Wednesdays for the following week.
• Develops Succession Team Leaders for future opportunities.
• Participates on weekly Shift Team Leader meeting (virtual).

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management or Other relevant fields

Desired experience

  • 3-5 years in manufacturing environment with supervisory responsibilities
