CASCADES CONTAINERBOARD PACKAGING

The Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country. The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others. The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.

Your challenge!

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will work with multifunctional teams of Human Resources and Finance to support the Cascades business objectives around employee engagement, onboarding, retention, payroll and benefits, recognition, safety, and training. You are the team's contact person for any technical or HR related questions and ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data integrated into the system. You  provide your team with all the information they need to fulfill their mandate and achieve their business objectives. 

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews with hourly candidates and provide feedback to decision makers
  • Responsible for the administration of onboarding and termination paperwork of all staff members 
  • Review, investigate and rectify payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Administration and troubleshooting of insurance benefits and 401k benefits plans
  • Coordinate claims for disability, FLMA, NYSSL and maintain records of employees on leaves
  • Support with the return to work plan and ongoing activities
  • Ensure practices are in accordance with Employment law
  • Assists with coaching and employee relations
  • Leads and organizes the social committee
  • Enable proper communication within the manufacture across all hierarchies, shifts and staff
  • Maintain employee training records 
  • Improve and manage ongoing activities related to the employee recognition programs

Your Background and Strengths

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
  • Have good knowledge of the employment law
  • Proven experience in a similar role within the industrial sector
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office365 suites such as Outlook, TEAMS, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Be dynamic, resourceful, possess great problem solving, organizational and planning skills
  • Exceptional English communication skills both written and spoken
  • Collaborative spirit needed to work effectively with all team members
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities
