CASCADES CONTAINERBOARD PACKAGING

The Containerboard Packaging Group, a division of Cascades, is the largest containerboard producer in Canada, and is also a top converter of corrugated products in the country. The Group manufactures a wide range of products made from recycled fibres for its North American customers in the food, beverage and consumer products sectors, among many others. The Division, which employs close to 3,400 people, owns six containerboard mills and nineteen corrugated products plants in Canada and the United States.

Your challenge!

Our manufacturing plant in Newtown, CT hopes to find a qualified and cost-conscious professional to fill the open position of Cost Accounting Manager.

 

Reporting to the Regional Administration Director, you will be responsible for hands-on operations of the company’s financials, directing Cascades overall financial policies, and driving profitable growth. The successful candidate, should be a highly motivated professional with a sense of urgency, have a proven track record, and strong strategic and communication skills. We will rely on your widespread experiences and passion for providing financial leadership to develop and continue to grow the company’s profitable business and ensure the financial well-being of the company in all areas of its operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Streamline reporting, forecasting and analysis to drive superior decision-making; identify areas that provide low value and work to reallocate resources to provide more meaningful information for decision support.
  • Collaborate and partner with the Plant Manager and various leaders to support the daily operations of the plant and guide production and inventory management, costs and variances, and cost analysis of new products.
  • Prepare annual budget for the plant.
  • Balance Sheet reconciliation.
  • Ensure accuracy of internal and external financial reporting; ensure that effective internal controls are in place and compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Conduct detailed analytical reviews of sales, gross margins, operating cost and profit margins by served industries, customer, and value propositions.
  • Provide and present management with applicable financial reports and analysis monthly.
  • Take ownership of the accounting and finance functions.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Experience

  • Cost Accounting
  • At least 3 years in a manufacturing environment; preferably in the corrugated industry
