Production Manager

Your Challenge

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the paper machine, ensuring that all regulatory and developmental needs of the departments are met, and that all activities are conducted in accordance to the Cascades Operating philosophy.

Job Responsibilities

- Primarily accountable for the Health and Safety of all the plant’s employees and improving the Health and Safety Programs of the facility

- Promote and be responsible for applying sound occupational health and safety management and ensure compliance with Cascades safety standards and 5S

- Support the Plant Manager in fulfilling the mandates of the plant operations to meet overall business objectives

- Collaborate with customers, business partners, suppliers, and stakeholders to provide innovative solutions aimed at creating added value

- Oversee 2 “Line Centric Teams” consisting of press, extrusion and conversion units and liaise with department’s Technical Specialists to ensure consistent production levels and objectives are met

- Responsible for the execution of people management in terms of schedule, optimization, training, conflicts etc.

-  Accountable for the results management cycle, including all the associated meetings such as health and safety committee, planning committee, CIP follow-up etc.

-  Actively participating to establish the associated goals of the budget and track them closely to obtain results

- Supervise the production team of press, extrusion, and conversion operators; establish a learning and development plan, provide training to new operators

- Document overall operations procedures, standards, and product specifications; implement quality controls and monitor performance parameters

- Lead full “Root Cause Analysis” where required and present findings to the management team

- Collaborate with production planning, manage work interruptions, implement systems and work methods to consistently meet deadlines, cost and quality initiatives

- Take initiative to focus on continuous improvement for personal development regarding updates on industry standards

- Ensure compliance to external regulatory programs, and to local corporate governing standards such as IFS PAC Secure, One Certification and Continuous Improvement Plan

- Additional duties as required by your supervisor

Qualifications

8+ years’ experience working as a Production Supervisor in a manufacturing environment required, press department experience an asset

Engineering or Science degree from an accredited University is required

Effective interpersonal skills for building relationships with team members at all levels

Demonstrated organization skills and proven attention to detail/accuracy

Positive, reliable, and hard-working attitude

Experience or knowledge of the flexible packaging industry would be an asset

Able to work independently with minimal guidance

Additional Information

Cascades Flexible Packaging (CFP) is located in Mississauga, Ontario. The plant operates on a 24/7 basis with a mix of continental rotating shift work. CFP operates single and multi-layer blown film extruders, as well as two world-class wide web flexo presses that manufacture printed film for a diverse range of end consumer applications. The plant continuously cultivates its safety program and strives for employeedriven improvements.
