Financial Analyst

Under the responsibility of the Regional Controller of the Recovery business unit, the Assistant Controller (Lachine-Ottawa) will be responsible for accompanying his operation business partners on the financial aspect of the plant and transportation of the unit. In addition, as the Financial Analysis Expert, the incumbent will assist his plant manager and business partners in the profitability analysis in order to support the decisions making:

Individual responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze and follow plant and transportation profitability;
• Support operation teams in communicating recommendations regarding action plans and improvements in connection with profitability;
• Participate in the annual budget process;
• Complete qualitative and quantitative analysis of forecasts, actual results and Ad Hoc projects to assist in management’s review
• Maintain an efficient control structure to minimize inherent business risks on operations and fraud;
• Support business partners in the application and follow up of business processes;
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of produced financial information and ensure conformity with Company accounting and reporting standards
• Analyze KPI’s of the profitability sector, release accurate information, identify opportunities of improvement and contribute with the decisions making of the sector;
• Monitor best practices of your field and share it within the organization.
• Performing monthly Balance Sheet, income statement and changes in financial Position/budget variance analysis.
• Preparation of Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Divisional Financial Statements
• Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliation.
• Prepare and review of Quarterly  reporting packages.
• Assessing internal Controls, including risk assessments and review risk areas.
• Assist in overseeing daily operations (AR/AP/Administration) of the finance department.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned

Experiences and strengths

• Bachelor’s Degree in business management, with specialization in accounting or finance;
• CPA designation (asset);
• Bilingual (French/English)( must);
• Travel flexibility 30-50%
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role;
• Have an analytical mindset, be rigorous and organized;
• Have a sense of team spirit;
• Have excellent knowledge of Excel;
• Have a relevant experience of ERP system, especially AS400 and SAP;
• Trux, Elemos knowledge (asset)
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Able to demonstrate flexibility with job duties and scope of work
• Adapts and Learns - work effectively in the face of ambiguity, shifting priorities and rapid change while actively developing one’s skills and capabilities
• Ability to fit in a dynamic environment and be a team player
