Maintenance Manager - Operations

Job Responsibilities

Role & Responsibilities:

• Daily Supervision of the Plant Maintenance programs
o Store Supervisor
o Maintenance Planner o MRO Buyer
• Liaison with Production, supporting daily Dashboard meeting • Manage Preventative Maintenance program in cooperation with Production Management • Develop performance improvement and training program for each departmental employee • Perform regular and annual performance reviews with Maintenance staff (Hourly & Salaried) • Develop long-term strategic plan related to Reliability Program working with Cascades CS+ • Participate in regional Maintenance Committee to advance “Best Practice” approach and standardize Maintenance function across all Cascades plants • Develop and Manage an Apprenticeship program, working with local colleges and Corporate HR • Develop and deploy KPI program to monitor and further enhance Maintenance team’s performance


  • • Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, (P.Eng)
  • • 10 years Technical Managerial Experience, in a manufacturing environment
  • • Recognized success in developing and deploying a functional reliability program
  • Recognized success in team building and skills development for trades & apprentice programs
  • • Recognized experience in developing and executing on approved annual budget

Business Objectives Alignment

Help develop and implement the unit’s strategic plan

Support the unit’s business strategy as a maintenance/reliability specialist

Operational Excellence

Make sure that best practices, efficiency and quality are applied to maintenance/reliability activities in his/her unit

Establish priorities and measures to take based on operational and budget performance indicators

Manage and control maintenance costs

Work with Production to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities

Support his/her unit’s operational strategy

Human Resources

Manage and engage his/her staff based on Cascades’ values and business strategy

Participate in and implement the talent development and succession strategy for the people under his/her responsibility, in collaboration with Human Resources

Health & Safety

Develop and maintain a healthy and safe work environment for all Cascades employees

Help set OSH priorities for the unit in line with corporate objectives and help implement the unit’s action plan

Promote sound occupational health and safety management

Personally commit to and display strong leadership in health and safety

Corporate Responsibility and Governance

Ensure compliance with laws, standards and regulations in effect for buildings and equipment

Encourage and promote ethical conduct and uphold Cascades’ culture and values

Client Focused and Innovation

Encourage staff to suggest ideas for improvement

Develop his/her network of experts
