CASCADES TISSUE GROUP

The Tissue Group, a division of Cascades, is the second-largest tissue producer in Canada and the fifth-largest in North America. The Division manufactures, converts and markets a huge selection of paper products, such as hand towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, wipers and dispensers for the North American away-from-home and consumer products markets. The Group has more than 2,200 employees and operates seven manufacturing plants, nine conversion plants and four plants with both manufacturing and conversion facilities.

Your challenge!

As the Reliability Engineer for the Eau Claire, WI mill you will have a diverse work load in support of the manufacturing needs of the entire plant. The successful candidate will partner with the Production Supervisors in their respective areas to determine the best method to ensure continuous operation of all the assets. This person will collaborate with the production employees, production supervisors, maintenance supervisors as well as the plant leadership team to provide guidance and demonstrate the capabilities of our most important assets to ensure synergy across the mill.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, you will have the following main functions:

  • Assure optimum equipment reliability and availability through the evaluation, development, and application of sound maintenance and production procedures
  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with both the Production Supervisors, Maintenance Supervisors and production employees
  • Work with maintenance and production employees to implement sound practices and preventative maintenance timing to improve reliability on an ongoing basis
  • Evaluate and recommend spare part inventory and purchases to ensure availability when needed

Check and optimize maintenance routines (EPP)

Ensure asset maintenance by creating and implementing tools and processes

Analyze equipment (RCA) and maintenance costs

Ensure the availability, quality and effectiveness of equipment through optimizing their maintainability (TRG)

Reduce and eliminate equipment breakdowns

Support the supervisor during the implementation of maintenance/reliability good practices

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Mechanics

Desired experience

  • Three to five years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer supporting the maintenance functions of an organization
  • Strong understanding of how to optimize assets for continuous operations
  • Ability to get work done through others
  • Strong committment to supporting a safety conscious work environment
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends in support of the On-Call rotation to support the 24/7 operation schedule (currently a 6 week rotation)
