Individual responsibilities

Reporting to the Raw Materials Quality Manager, the Quality Technician will perform daily quality control activities in the paper and recovery mills in the Quebec region while supporting operations in the Ontario and Northeastern U.S. regions as required. Your primary role will be to operate state-of-the-art quality control technology. You will help develop and implement the functionality of a new enterprise-wide quality management system. In addition, you will support the development and improvement of daily quality control procedures. The primary location is at the Récupération+ plant in Lachine, Quebec.  Occasional travel to our facilities across Canada and the United States is expected. 


Your main responsibilities will be: 


  • Perform inspection of recycled fiber bales in accordance with established standard operating procedures and audit schedules;
  • Perform verification and calibration of measuring equipment;
  • Operate a state of the art optical detection drill and probe;
  • Enter data from survey and audit results into Cascades BI in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Communicate audit schedules to plant managers and other stakeholders;
  • Communicate audit results quarterly or as needed to management;
  • Support the development and implementation of quality control policies and procedures required for internal standards;
  • Participate in investigations and complete root cause analyses and implement corrective actions for non-conformances;
  • Perform analysis of audit reports and data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures as necessary.

As a quality technician, you will be able to showcase your qualities and skills. We are looking for someone who has the following qualifications:



  • Experience in the recycling or paper industry (an asset);
  • Have a strong knowledge of continuous improvement concepts;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and/or apply quality concepts and processes, including statistical fundamentals;
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills;
  • Demonstrate thoroughness in data entry;
  • Be bilingual;
  • Be available for travel in Canada and the United States.
