Your challenge!

Our Tissue Group division is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join its team. The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for plants located in Quebec and the United States.  He will participate in the improvement of the health and safety culture and will ensure the implementation of best practices throughout the plants under his responsibility.


Job Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Health and Safety Manager will be to

  • Develop and optimize the health and safety management system according to business objectives;
  • Ensuring the consistency of OHS practices and supporting the group in the implementation of the OHS strategy;
  • Advise and influence the organization in the exercise of OHS best practices.
  • Optimize OHS practices, processes and tools across the enterprise
  • Develop the communication plan adapted to the needs and share good practices within all plants
  • Coordinate crisis situations and act as a resource person to partners and authorities concerned;
  • Supervising the team of health and safety coordinators;
  • Manage, mobilize and develop its human resources in accordance with Cascades values and business strategy;
  • Define and implement performance indicators and analyze results;
  • Be actively involved with external associations and organizations.


Desired experience

The Health and Safety Manager shall have the following qualifications:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Industrial Relations combined with a Health and Safety certificate or any other training deemed relevant;
  • Have 7 to 10 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Be fluently bilingual;
  • Have a good knowledge of health and safety standards and regulations;
  • Have a unifying leadership, be mobilizing and have excellent communication skills;
  • Be ready for operations, be a team player and enjoy sharing knowledge;
  • Be rigorous, organized and structured.


Additional information

The health and safety manager is required to travel 30-40% of the time through the plants in Quebec and the United States.
