Your challenge!

Our Centre of Excellence (COE) Supply Chain, wishes to increase its team of category managers, who will be challenged to lead negotiations, signatures, implementation monitoring and supplier performance for the commodities entrusted to them.

Our future category manager will have to be a change agent and have a vision for improving supply chain processes. In particular, he or she will have to carry out the complete cycle of strategic purchases, while respecting the company's policies and ensuring that optimal recommendations are made for all Cascades' needs.

Job Responsibilities

More specifically, the expectations of the category manager position are reflected as follows:

In particular, you will be responsible for managing strategic sourcing activities in the Capex (capital expenditure) and Engineering categories;

In order to achieve the optimal sources of supply, you will need to define the orientations and best negotiation strategies in order to respond as adequately as possible to Cascades' needs;

To this end, we hope that our category manager will develop and maintain in-depth expertise in the market for his or her commodities, in addition to developing and maintaining business relationships with suppliers. 

As part of the tendering process, you will be responsible for managing the entire process, ensuring that documents are prepared, proposals and recommendations evaluated, and a framework agreement negotiated and drafted, in collaboration with legal services and other collaborators;

You will also have to manage contracts and agreements, ensuring that they are respected. In the event of non-compliance, you will have to intervene as soon as possible; and this by ensuring civilized communications based on tangible and confirmed facts.

You will also be required to act as a resource person throughout the relationship with the supplier. In particular, by managing and monitoring with suppliers during the implementation phase of major projects, as well as commercial negotiations related to the various issues arising in the context of projects. You will also ensure communication and fluidity with all relevant stakeholders;

Finally, as part of your work, you will need to ensure that you use the technological platforms in place for document management and tracking, and the tracking and renewal of futures contracts under its facilities.

Monitor products and services, the market and technologies in his/her field and share them with his/her business partners
Make sure the suppliers satisfy the specifications of Cascades’ clients
Take part in continuous improvement activities and apply good practices
Bachelor's degree en Business Administration ou Engineering
Desired experience

The ideal candidate should have between 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in negotiating and drafting procurement contracts. Also, experience in project management will be an asset.

Technical competencies

Excellent language skills, in both French and English, spoken and written;

Excellent knowledge of the Ms Office suite and general comfort with the use of computer systems.
