Pulper Operator

Job Description

Cascades Moulded Pulp-Indiana seeks a hard-working, reliable, diligent pulper operator for our production process. This is a high-energy position requiring attention to detail with an emphasis on timely completion of assigned work activities throughout the day. Our pulper operator tends the machine that reduces fiber (recycled paper) to pulp to then be molded. Applicants need to have a proven track record of reliability, quality work and outstanding attendance history.  Applicant must be able to work any shift including weekends. This is an hourly nonexempt position.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Crew Supervisor, the applicant will dump the paper onto a conveyor to fill the pulping machine. Throughout the day, they will monitor paper, water, and chemical levels to ensure the consistency of the pulp.

Specific duties include:

  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, environmental compliance and follow all PPE and food regulation requirements and standards.
  • Place recycled paper on pulper conveyor, as the process demands, cut and remove binding from the paper as it is placed on the conveyor.
  • Drive forklift and clamp truck to move bales of fiber.
  • Conduct daily cleaning of pulper area.
  • Push buttons and turn valves to admit water to specified consistency.
  • Operate a compactor to remove trash and dumps trash bales into dumpster.
  • Should be comfortable around heavy machinery in harsh conditions, such as wet, hot, and cold.
  • Learn entire process that includes pumps, valves, motors, vacuum, air pressure, speeds, flow, temperature, etc.
  • Work with maintenance to fix issues.
Qualifications

The following requirements are expected for this position.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Shift / hours flexibility unless otherwise agreed upon.
    • Currently 7:00 am – 7:00 pm or 7:00 pm – 7:00 am
    • Two-week work day rotation: 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off
  • Work holidays (other than Christmas) if shift assigned
    • Entire holiday work day is at the overtime rate
  • Able to lift, push, pull (up to 50 lbs) during the shift
  • Must be able to stand, lift, twist, bend, climb, etc.
