Maintenance Lead

Position overview:

Responsible for all outcomes associated with the maintenance of his/her area: Ensures communication between operations and maintenance and correct prioritization for maintenance activities and manages defects / failures. Also provides support to the AO and PL.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure execution of action plans
  • Define and implement maintenance processes
  • Manage defects and equipment failures
  • Define and implement preventive maintenance plans in order to improve equipment reliability and reduce

  need for corrective actions

  • Responsible for the preventive schedule for their asset
  • Supporting other members of the LCT in the implementation and continuous improvement of their

  respective DMS elements

  • MP&S: Maintenance KPIs and analyses
  • BDE and DH processes
  • Planned maintenance schedule
  • Work orders
  • Monthly E-Stop Test schedule
  • Work orders for area
  • Additional job responsibilities as required

 

 

Business Objectives Alignment:

Provide technical expertise to help develop and implement the business strategy for the units in line with the group’s vision and world-class best practices.

 

Operational Excellence:

  • Define standard processes and tools to handle defects (DH) and ensures that processes are executed

             properly

  • Follow up with operators to ensure that any defects were handled properly
  • Define / execute on standards for Breakdown Elimination (BDE) and presents breakdown status weekly at

  an LCT meeting

  • Monitor repair paths
  • Support operators in identifying and solving problems that caused breakdowns
  • Determine planned maintenance needs and prioritize / schedule the process for conducting planned

  maintenance

 

 

Human Resources:

  • Coordinate employees involved in carrying out projects
  • Assess and minimize the impact of projects on work flow
  • Make sure employees have the required skills
  • Facilitate change management for projects by listening and getting involved
  • Take the initiative to develop his/her skills

 

 

Health & Safety:

  • Comply with safe work standards in effect
  • Promote sound occupational health and safety management

 

Corporate Responsibility and Governance:

  • Conduct him/himself ethically and uphold Cascades’ culture and values
  • Make sure projects comply with the standards, regulations and procedures in effect
  • Ensure the sustainable and responsible development of the unit

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate the other members of the LCT in the implementation and continuous improvement of their

  respective DMS elements

  • Defines standards processes and tools to handle defects
  • Share best practices with other maintenance leads
  • Support the operators in solving problems
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance with Reliability Engineer
  • Train and coach operators to handle different aspects of maintenance
  • Provides maintenance requirements for work in progress (weekly)
  • Schedules the planning meetings for planned shutdowns
  • Produces the work orders one week in advance to plan the right labor for grade changes
  • Performs daily monitoring with mechanics and electricians of the progress on planned work completed

  during the week, help them understand the work orders and search for parts

 

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years of Maintenance Planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • High self-motivation with goal orientated mentality and strong sense of responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP software or other ERP required.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to overcome obstacles and complete assignments

  in a timely manner.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively work with personnel, contractors, vendors, OEM suppliers

  and management.

  • Ability to proactively address issues and problems by proposing solutions resulting resolution of equipment

  repairs.

  • Ability to carry out several projects simultaneously while respecting deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to take direction, utilize information, and execute
  • Experience leading and coaching teams
  • Knowledge / expertise of area processes and systems
  • Demonstrates good analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to drive insights
  • Demonstrates ability to overcome ambiguous and complex situations
  • Brings strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Experience and understanding of Lean Production System principles
  • Organizational skills with ability and desire to drive change with little to no direction
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, contingency planning
  • Overall knowledge of industrial, electrical, and mechanical equipment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite

 

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Extended periods of walking, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching at or above shoulder level,

  stooping, crawling, climbing and kneeling.

  • Must be able to operate different types of mobile equipment; Forklift, Scissor lift, etc..
  • Working in a busy environment with frequent interruptions
  • Continual lifting up to 50lbs
  • May be required to perform general maintenance work for training purposes. 
  • Working in a fast-paced environment with noise, dust, wet slippery surfaces, extreme heat/cold, with some

  exposure to outside elements

  • Must be flexible to work as needed including weekends and holidays, call-ins and 12 hour

  rotating shifts
