CASCADES TISSUE GROUP

The Tissue Group, a division of Cascades, is the second-largest tissue producer in Canada and the fifth-largest in North America. The Division manufactures, converts and markets a huge selection of paper products, such as hand towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, wipers and dispensers for the North American away-from-home and consumer products markets. The Group has more than 2,200 employees and operates seven manufacturing plants, nine conversion plants and four plants with both manufacturing and conversion facilities.

Job Responsibilities

•    Perform a variety of duties as assigned to maintain the linerboard machine and the mill’s 24-7 operation. 
•    Perform scheduled and planned maintenance repairs of equipment, as well as emergency/unscheduled repairs of mill equipment during unplanned shutdowns 
•    Properly maintain high speed automation equipment, tooling and associated machinery to designed standards. 
•    Understand the basics required to troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution systems and support equipment. 
•    Must be able to work with PLCs and HMIs . Perform basic PLC programming skills for troubleshooting equipment and associated processes. 
•    Monitor measurement systems, SPC or other performance indicators and proactively respond to negative trends. 
•    Knowledge of instrumentation specifically pressure transmitters, level indicators, RTDs, valve positioners, etc. 
•    Understand how to troubleshoot and repair Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). 
•    Use basic hand tools: multi-meters, thermal imaging cameras, meggers, and other electrical test equipment. 
•    Troubleshoot pneumatic/hydraulic circuits and analyze documentation Capable of product evaluation, process or equipment troubleshooting. 
•    Facilitate repairs or adjustments to improve the performance of the line and comply with quality standards. 
•    Capable of repairing electrical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic & hydraulic devices. Perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment throughout the mill. 
•    Detect faulty or failing equipment and report any unusual situations to proper supervision. Safely use all hand and power tools. After onsite training and certification, safely use aerial lift equipment, fall protection, etc. 
•    Comply with all mill safety responsibilities and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Contribute to enhancing an interdependent safety culture. 
•    Strong communication skills, and a team-player attitude.

Qualifications

•    Qualifications AAS Degree in a technical discipline such as Mechatronics, Electronics, Robotics, Computer or Mechanical Engineering Technology; 
•    OR A minimum of 4 years technical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
•    Good interpersonal skills.
•    Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Skills

•    2-5 years of experience in electro-mechanical maintenance background in a large-scale heavy industrial manufacturing environment. 
•    Blueprint/schematic reading, access and read electrical, pneumatic and mechanical drawings. SAP experience 
•    Experience with Siemens PCS-7 or equivalent, S-7, S-120 drives, Simotion Controller, TIA Portal, & WinCC Flex
•    Experience with Rockwell Control Logix, Compact Logix, Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View, Powerflex Drives, & Kinetix 6500 Servo Drives.
•    Experience with Profibus communication protocol

Education/Eligibility Criteria

•    Qualifications AAS Degree in a technical discipline such as Mechatronics, Electronics, Robotics, Computer or Mechanical Engineering Technology; 
•    OR A minimum of 4 years technical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands


•    Extended periods of walking, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching at or above shoulder level, stooping, crawling, climbing and kneeling.
•    Vision requirements include far and close vision with depth perception and color discrimination
•    Working in a busy environment with frequent interruptions
•    Continual lifting up to 50lbs
•    Working in a fast-paced environment with noise, dust, slippery surfaces, extreme heat/cold, with some exposure to outside elements
•    Frequent overtime maybe required
•    Must be available to work 12 hour rotating shifts, weekends and holidays, overtime and call-ins
