Maintenance Supervisor - Project & Reliability

Your challenge!

The Bear Island Mill is the newest addition to the Cascades Containerboard Packaging lineup. This state-of-the-art facility will offer one of the lightest high end, 100% recycled linerboard and medium products on the market. The mill is actually under construction and start-up is scheduled in December 2022. 
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager: 

Individual responsibilities

Before the Startup, the Maintenance supervisor – Project and Reliability will be responsible for:
•    Be fully invested, with the assistance of the project partners, in the recruitment of his team, its development and coaching to ensure a robust organization prepared to achieve the established goals. 
•    The ramp up, stabilization and optimization of the processes and management tools of his team.  

The Maintenance supervisor – Project and Reliability will support the units’ operational strategy for Maintenance including accountability for:  
•    Report asset performance and work with his team to implement methods to improve performance and sustain existing efficiencies.
•    Lead planning and scheduling standard processes to effectively execute all down-days and outages.
•    Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and reliability personnel to ensure the reliability of equipment on all existing and new assets.
•    Oversee studies of operations failures to improve equipment reliability with your team and make recommendations with corrective action plans to maximize availability and reliability. 
•    Develop solutions and provide recommendations for major equipment modifications, installations, additions, and replacements to facilitate continuous improvement.
•    Supervise the collection and analysis of equipment repair history, costs, and repetitive repairs to develop and implement proactive repair planning.
•    Participate in the annual action planning process and budget development.
•    Lead the identification of potential failures using predictive technologies.   
•    Ensure monitoring of the OHS risks identified in your sector.

Experiences and strengths

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 
•    3+ years’ experience in maintenance supervision / management role preferred
•    Previous experience working in the paper mill industry is an asset
•    Leadership and expertise in promoting buy-in to proposed solutions and rallying your team around objectives
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•    Rigour and agility to handle projects based on their scope, budget and timelines
•    Ability to help team members develop and achieve their goals
•    Sound judgment and the experience to choose the best solution after analyzing the situation
•    Ability to support and advise business partners on occupational health and safety issues
•    Agility needed to work with various technological tools
•    Knowledge of SAP software or other ERP (an asset)
