Your challenge!

The Bear Island Mill is the newest addition to the Cascades Containerboard Packaging lineup. This state-of-the-art facility will offer one of the lightest high end, 100% recycled linerboard and medium products on the market. The mill is actually under construction and start-up is scheduled for Q1 2023. We are excited to announce that due to the promotion of our previous Asset Owner, we now have an opening to fill! Details about the role & responsibilities of an Asset Owner in our Recycled Fiber department are below.

 

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Asset Owner’s mission is to be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of one or several line(s) including creating and executing daily action plan, developing production operators, and supporting the Process Lead and Reliability Lead in improvement, and sustainability of Daily Management System (DMS) elements as well as Health & Safety training. You own Daily Rhythm & Schedule (DRS) and Clean Inspect & Lubricate (CIL) processes.

 

 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute on shift action plan and daily action plan as part of T1 and T2 meetings
  • Present daily updates and action plans in area meeting (T3)
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve CIL processes while coaching operators to follow standard practices
  • Validate daily performance, transactions, and time losses
  • Validate the quality tests form the last 24 hours (daily) and follow up with faulty employees
  • Share best practices with other Asset Owners
  • Perform Health and Safety audits, develop plans for creating an orderly and clean work environment; owns A-risks
  • Create action plan to address time losses
  • Ensure continuous improvement of DRS board to align with evolving operational needs
  • Coach operators on how to properly communicate through the different DRS meetings
  • Communicate the daily action plan
  • Cover the watch period during the week according to the schedule, anwser calls related to operational problems, lack of raw materials, labor shortages, and electrical/mechanical maintenance issues.

  • Demonstrates ability to overcome ambiguous and complex situations
  • Brings strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Experience and understanding of Lean Production System principles
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well and communicate with others
  • Experience in the Pulp & Paper Industry highly preferred
  • Process or Chemical Engineer Degree
