CASCADES TISSUE GROUP

 

The Tissue Group, a division of Cascades, is the second-largest tissue producer in Canada and the fifth-largest in North America. The Division manufactures, converts and markets a huge selection of paper products, such as hand towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, wipers and dispensers for the North American away-from-home and consumer products markets. The Group has more than 2,200 employees and operates seven manufacturing plants, nine conversion plants and four plants with both manufacturing and conversion facilities.

Your challenge!

This position requires the individual to provide support to the Tissue Group facilities in the  the NY | TN | NC plants. With 6 plants to oversee, the individual will continue to develop the Cascades culture and Health & Safety programs and performance within these sites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute H&S plans and guidance for Cascades sites and ensure legal compliance to state specific regulations as well as Cascades vision.
  • Conduct training and presentations regarding H&S matters for accident prevention & risk analysis.
  • Provide guidance and expert advise to sites regarding H&S.
  • Support sites in imporving their safety culture.
  • Recommend solutions to issues and improvement opportunities on prevention programs.
  • Help support the site in overall engagement, employee ownership for H&S results, and overall maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Be the expert on Government (federal/state/local) regulations as it applies to H&S.
  • Maintain proper documentation and training requirements.
  • Ensure training and development are in line with the H&S management systems.

Participate in standardizing OHS practices, processes and tools throughout his/her group

Foster and promote Cascades’ ethical behaviors, culture and values

Oversee compliance with OHS standards, legislation and regulations

Keep a watch on OHS best practices and share them within the organization

Bachelor's degree in Occupational health and safety or Other relevant fields

Desired experience

The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the following areas:

  • Health & Safety management preferably in manufacturing/industrial environment and/or military experience in like environment.
  • Strong understanding of state & federal regulations and standards.
  • Experience in developing and implementing H&S programs and procedures.
  • Proven track record of working with government agencies and compliance standards.
  • Integrity driven
  • Experience in the Paper Industry a plus.

Technical competencies

  • Microsoft applications
  • SharePoint and other like platforms
  • Statistical knowledge and understanding as it relates to H&S

Additional information

  • Position will require 40-50% travel
  • Individual can reside near any of the 6 plants- and will then travel as needed to the sites.
  • This position reports to the Group H&S Manager.
  • Passport preferred for periodic travel to Canada.
