CASCADES TISSUE GROUP

The Tissue Group, a division of Cascades, is the second-largest tissue producer in Canada and the fifth-largest in North America. The Division manufactures, converts and markets a huge selection of paper products, such as hand towels, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, napkins, paper towels, wipers and dispensers for the North American away-from-home and consumer products markets. The Group has more than 2,200 employees and operates seven manufacturing plants, nine conversion plants and four plants with both manufacturing and conversion facilities.

Your challenge!

 

<span style="font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">Reporting to the Plant Manager your challenge will be responsible for managing the Production Department which includes two paper machines and stock prep area.  Your role is critical in achieving synergy and efficiency between the departments while engaging employees.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure optimal execution of operations by achieving targets in terms of occupational health and safety, production, capacity, standardization of operating costs and  quality while keeping employees engaged
  • Establish and apply standardized practices and procedures to achieve your unit's objectives

  • Actively participate in the creation and implementation of optimization and investment projects
  • Help implement the business unit strategic plan

Help develop and implement an operational strategy that is aligned with his/her unit’s business strategy
Meet the manufacturing objectives in the unit’s business strategy
Operational Excellence
Develop an action plan to maximize standardized manufacturing efficiency in his/her sector and optimize resources
Develop good relationships with business partners
Develop processes and tools to support and drive continuous improvement in his/her sector
Devise and implement standardized manufacturing practices and procedures related to his/her department’s objectives
Ensure sound management of operating costs and maximize the return on assets under his/her responsibility
Maximize synergy and foster collaboration among Cascades’ groups, units and business units
Help meet operational efficiency goals
Human Resources
Design and implement a talent development and succession strategy for his/her department, in collaboration with Human Resources
Build a team of competent and dedicated people whose skills complement one another
Ensure that the work flow and job structure are tailored to his/her sector’s needs
Manage and engage his/her staff based on Cascades’ values and business strategy
Health & Safety
Accept the full responsibility that comes with his/her position in line with Cascades’ OSH requirements
Help set OSH priorities for his/her sector in line with corporate objectives and follow up on them
Insist on and create a safe and healthy work environment for all employees in his/her sector

Bachelor's degree in Pulp and paper or Engineering
Desired experience
  • Supervisory and leadership experience in manufacturing preferably Tissue
  • Leadership and collaborative spirit that will inspire and engage teams to achieve the best results
  • Ability to deal with change and implement change
  • Ability to guide, coach and mentor team members
  • Sound judgement to ensure follow-up  and implement solutions in accordance with company priorities
  • Labor management skills for working in a Union environment
  • 10- 15 years of supervisory, management leadership progression in manufacturing with proven track record
Technical competencies
  • Strong Communication skills, tact and diplomacy
  • Agility to learn and work with various technological tools and systems
  • Proficiency in written communication
  • Knowledge of SAP software or other ERP systems required
  • Microsoft office and other platforms such as TEAMS, SKYPE, SharePoint
