Plant Production Planner

Your challenge!

We are seeking a dynamic Production Planner to focus on the production scheduling needs for our facility.  Located at our new state of the art manufacturing plant in Scappoose, OR, the production planner will be responsible for scheduling orders in the most efficient ways based on machine capabilities to ensure that our customers’ needs are satisfied.  The successful incumbent will work closely with members of the Operations teams.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with corporate planner for scheduling of customer orders
  • Order raw materials, cores, wastepaper etc.
  • Manage inventory process to ensure adequate supplies meet order and customer needs
  • Converting of production orders to meet site capabilities
  • Resequencing of corporate planning to meet plant efficiency and satisfy customer needs and delivery dates
Desired experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience with planning and scheduling
  • Previous customer service background and experience with both internal and external customers
  • SAP expertise and preference for manufacturing in Tissue industry
  • Strong problem-solving skills and expertise in utilization of planning board and communication of changes to all impacted parties
  • Expertise with computer systems and planning software, i.e.. SAP, QAD, or MES systems
  • Microsoft packages and similar software as well as Share Point and other platforms
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills
Operational Excellence
Make sure everything needed for production (raw materials, machine time, etc.) is available
Make sure production data (inventories, MRP, quantity produced, MOR, etc.) is complete and communicate disparities to the individuals concerned
Optimize the production sequences (short term) in order to deliver the production master plan
Ensure liaison between corporate planning, customer service and shipping in the event of differences with the production master plan
Take part in operational decisions (materials, staff turnover, etc.)

Help develop the strategic plan for his/her unit and support its implementation in keeping with Cascades’ plan, as a planning expert
