At our Cascades facility in Ashland, Virginia (Bear Island), you can develop your full potential, sustainably, by applying your expertise within the Containerboard Packaging Group of our team as the Maintenance and Reliability Manager:
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing expertise to your team and oversee the management of contactors for maintenance work or projects
  • Ensure operational excellence and solve problems by making recommendations to your direct reports and also to your manager
  • Report asset performance and work with his team to implement methods to improve performance and sustain existing efficiencies.
  • Effectively oversee the scheduling of planned work orders to ensure they are being completed by your team
  • Participate in the annual action planning process and budget development.
  • Prepare and execute investment and asset maintenance plans, shutdowns and meet return on investment targets
  • Engage and develop all your employees
  • Ensure compliance with Cascades’ business processes in the plant, in accordance with established business rules and best practices
  • Ensure the quality of work for maintenance teams under your responsibility
  • Ensure monitoring of the OHS risks identified in your sector
  • Drive the strategic plan by leading the ongoing implementation of lean manufacturing best practice utilizing experience with lean methodologies and tools. 
  • Communicate, lead, and support the plan that will achieve targets in terms of production capacity, standardization of operating costs, quality, engagement and health and safety.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE & STRENGTHS

  • Extensive experience in management and in the maintenance manufacturing sector
  • Leadership and a collaborative spirit that inspire and engage teams to achieve excellence
  • Ability to guide and coach team members
  • Sound judgment to ensure follow-up and effective implementation of solutions in accordance with company priorities and to make appropriate decisions
  • Strong communication skills, tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to work within a 24/7 plant operations facility
  • Agility needed to work with various technological tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Knowledge of SAP software or other ERP

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering Technology, or related field and at least five (5) years of leadership experience in the manufacturing sector.
  • Of the required experience, must have two (2) years of experience in the following:
    • Experience leading a maintenance department.
    • Experience managing and coaching individuals.
    • Experience with safe working practices (lockout, PPE, confined space, etc.).
    • Helpful to have experience with paper mill equipment, products, and new technologies.
    • Experience evaluating and implementing optimized planning and scheduling processes.
    • Experience implementing key performance indicators to monitor progress of project objectives;
    • Helpful to have experience in designing and implementing complete maintenance processes with pulp and paper mills; and
    • Experience with Capital Expenditures (CapEx).
